The Mira Mesa Town Council (MMTC) is a volunteer organization that works toward the improvement of the Mira Mesa Community. The Mira Mesa Town Council holds monthly meetings that provide information to the community and act as a forum for identifying and solving community problems. Elected representatives or their staff attend most MMTC meetings, and can research and respond to issues that arise at the meetings. MMTC meetings are held at 7 PM on the first Monday of each month.

The Mira Mesa Town Council sponsors many community activities and events including:

The Mira Mesa Town Council also helps to support independent community activities including the Halloween Carnival, the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol, and the Regional Teen Center.


Upcoming Meetings - The next MMTC general membership meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Mira Mesa Senior Center.

Volunteer of the Year: Congratulations to 2011 Volunteer of the Year Judy Taylor! The volunteer of the year dinner will be held in early 2012, time and place TBA.

Miss Mira Mesa: The Mira Mesa Town Council and the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce are proud to present the Miss Mira Mesa/Miss Mira Mesa Teen Pageant. The pageant will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Country Inn and Suites, 5975 Lusk Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92121. Tickets can now be purchased online.

Mira Mesa Street Fair Saturday, September 15th, 2012: The 14th annual Mira Mesa Street Fair will be held on September 15, 2012, 10 AM to 5 PM, Camino Ruiz from Mira Mesa Blvd. to New Salem St.

Here are three documents from Midori Wong's presentation on redistricting at the April 2011 MMTC meeting: Public hearings, Introduction to Redistricting, Redistricting importance. As of August, the new districts will move Mira Mesa into District 6. We will continue to be part of District 5 and represented by Carl DeMaio until the end of 2012, then move into District 6, which will be represented by Lori Zapf until the end of 2014.

Some of our business members are now offering discounts to MMTC members.

Abandoned shopping carts have been a continuing problem in Mira Mesa. Here is information on how to report them and get them picked up. Also, see Bari Vaz' article on the subject in the January 2011 newsletter.

The Fourth of July committee has merged with the Mira Mesa Town Council and is now a standing committee of the Town Council. The standing rules of the new committee were approved at the June 2010 meeting. The Fourth of July committee needs to raise $40,000 this and every year. Please donate to keep this great annual event going.

Donations for Fourth of July Fireworks can now be made online.

Donations to the "Adopt-A-Wall" program to paint out graffiti and repaint the brick walls along major streets in Mira Mesa can now be made online.
