The Mira Mesa Recreation Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Lopez Ridge Park meeting room, at 7:00 PM. Recreation Council Board members for 2008 are:

There is a Summer Lunch Program for the community at Mira Mesa Recreation Center for low income families. We started on Monday June 23 and it runs through August 27. Lunches are served at 12:30 -1:30 p.m. On our first day we received 50 children, second day 100 and now we are up 200 children participating in our program. The lunches are free for children 2-18 years.

A connector trail from Camino Ruiz Park to Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve is now being planned.
ByLaws Update - the bylaws are being revised to comply with a new City template. The new bylaws were approved by the Recreation Council on February 12, 2008 and require City Council approval before becoming effective.

Camino Ruiz Neighborhood Park opened on July 29, 2006.
Breen Neighborhood Park opened on October 19, 2005.
Park information:
A new plan is being developed for the Mira Mesa Community Park, including the site across New Salem where Little League fields are located. A community swimming pool and a new or expanded field house are planned to be built on the site. Two community workshops were held to discuss the Park design. The first took place on May 22, 2004 and the second workshop took place on Oct. 16.
