Residents are being asked to help identify a man who has been groping young women in central Mira Mesa. There have been at least 5 attacks between Sept 1, 2016 and January 24, 2017. These occurred on Mira Mesa Blvd near Greenford Dr., Hillery Dr. near Rickert Rd., and on Caminito Baywood in the Mesa Village condominium development. There was an unconfirmed report of a man matching the description of the suspect who attacked a woman on Caminito Baywood at approximately 7 pm on Friday, February 10. The victim stated that SDPD did not respond to her calls. (If it was the same suspect, then that would make it 6 attacks rather than 5).
Two Mira Mesa High School students have been attacked on their way to school in the morning. The first was on October 12, at 6:35 am, when a 15-year-old girl was attacked on Hillery Drive near Westonhill. The man walked up behind the girl and spoke with her before assaulting her. The second case was on Friday, Nov 30, at 6:30 am on Flanders near Westonhill. Again, the man walked up behind the girl and spoke to her before assaulting her.
SDPD suspects that all of these assaults are being committed by the same person as per the latest Crime Stoppers reward poster https://www.sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/02-01-17miramesasexualassault_0.pdf.
