County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer Featured Speaker at MMTC November 1, 2021.

The Mira Mesa Town Council invites everyone to hear County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer as its featured speaker Monday evening, November 1, 2021. The meeting is open to the public and will take place via Zoom, starting at 7pm.

In addition, there will be a presentation by PATH, a non-profit group which helps people experiencing homelessness find permanent housing and provides case management, medical and mental healthcare, benefits advocacy, employment training, and other services to help them maintain their homes stably. Brian Gruters, PATH Associate Director of Outreach, is scheduled to speak, with the possible addition of a colleague from the Housing Commission.

Current members of MMTC will also vote to elect the non-profit civic group’s Board for 2021.

Director At Large #3 – Lisa Balderston

The Newsletter Editor position has been open, and now has 1 year remaining on its term. According to MMTC president Bari Vaz, Kaanchan Farkiya, who currently does MMTC social media posts on Instagram and Facebook, will move into the Newsletter Editor Board position, as well. Kaanchan’s son, Javieer, a 15-year-old high school student, will be editing the newsletter.

“I am excited to have student involvement with the Town Council, and hope this is just the beginning of bringing in more high school and college students from Mira Mesa into the organization,” Bari Vaz said.

Two at-large positions remain to be filled. Nominations will be taken from the floor November 1.
