Elections to the Mira Mesa Community Planning Group will be held on March 20, 2023. To vote for Planning Group members or to run for a position on the Planning Group, you need to register as an “eligible member of the community”. The bylaws have this definition:

An individual may become an eligible member of the community by attending one meeting of the Mira Mesa Community Planning Group and submitting an application to the planning group Secretary demonstrating qualifications to be an eligible member of the community. The individual will then become an eligible member of the community as of the following meeting.

Prior to starting online-only meetings in 2020, paper registration forms were available at all Planning Group meetings, but with online meetings we need to collect the information electronically. To register, please send your name, address, email, phone number and category (and business name for business members) to Planning Group secretary Tiffany English at tenglish@qualcomm.com. Please also identify one meeting that you have attended. If you have not yet attended a Planning Group meeting, you must attend the next (virtual) meeting on February 23, 2023.

To be an eligible community member an individual must be at least 18 years of age, and shall be affiliated with the community as a:

(l) Property owner, who is an individual identified as the sole or partial owner of record, or their designee, of a real property (either developed or undeveloped), within the community planning area, or

(2) Resident, who is an individual whose primary address of residence is an address in the community planning area, or

(3) Local business person, who is a local business or not-for-profit owner, operator, or designee at a non-residential real property address in the community planning area; only one representative of a particular establishment may hold a seat on the community planning group at one time.

We have six current members who are reaching their 8-year term limit and one vacancy, so we are encouraging new people to apply. To be eligible, you must be a resident, business owner or representative, or a property owner within the boundaries of the Mira Mesa Community. Residents do not need to be homeowners and renters are encouraged to apply. Candidates must also have attended two meetings of the Mira Mesa Community Planning Group of the 12 meetings preceding the election.
