We are requesting nominations for the 2019 Mira Mesa Volunteer of the Year. Nominations are due by November 11, 2019. Please include a brief description of your nominee’s volunteer service on behalf of Mira Mesa, as well as his or her name and contact information, and email your nomination to Jeff Stevens, MMTC secretary, at secretary@miramesatowncouncil.org. Written nominations may also be submitted in person at the November 4 MMTC meeting or at the November 11 MMTC Board meeting.
Each year since 1984 the Mira Mesa Town Council has held an annual dinner to recognize special volunteers who make the community a better place to live. The Volunteer of the Year Dinner is also an opportunity to raise funds for the college scholarships which MMTC awards to graduating high school seniors from Mira Mesa who have volunteered in community service. Currently Volunteer of the Year nominations are sought in November and the honoree is selected by a vote of MMTC members at the December meeting, with the Volunteer of the Year Dinner taking place the following spring. The Volunteer of the Year need not be a Mira Mesa Town Council member, but should be someone who has made a significant contribution to Mira Mesa through volunteer work, not just during the past year but over the years s/he has been involved with the community.
The 2019 Volunteer of the Year will be selected by a vote of the MMTC membership at the December 2, 2019 MMTC meeting. (Everyone who is a paid-up MMTC member by November 2 is eligible to vote.)
