The Volunteer of the Year for 2005 is Joe Frichtel. The annual dinner was held on April 30, 2006 at the Country Inn and Suites Hotel. See pictures below.

Joe Frichtel – Joe Frichtel is known for his tireless efforts on behalf of the families and children of Mira Mesa. He is currently President of the Mira Mesa Recreation Council and has been actively working to spearhead several park projects under development including Breen Park, Camino Ruiz Park, Mira Mesa Park expansion and several tot-lot improvements. He is a member of the Mira Mesa Community Planning Group, a long time member of the Mira Mesa Town Council, a member of the Mira Mesa Maintenance Assessment District (MMMAD) committee, a member of the Mira Mesa Community Fund Committee, a member of the Community Parks I Committee of the San Diego Park and Recreation Department, and the MMRC representative to the Hourglass Field Joint Use committee. He has been active for over 15 years with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and is a past and current Board member. He has been a participant in almost every volunteer activity in the community for many years.
